Birds
of the Western Palearctic Concise Edition
In
early 1995 I was approached by Oxford University Press to paint several
new plates for the two volume condensed edition of the original nine
volume BWP. The original commission was just to illustrate the seabirds,
but I ended up painting the new tern plates as well. In all I did 29
plates for the book, and this work led to a further commission to illustrate
The Pelecaniformes in OUP's Bird Families of the World series
(finally published in 2005, seven years after the illustrations were
commissioned!).
